As you have likely heard, there was a draft leak of the pending SCOTUS decision impacting Roe v Wade.
Activity around the Supreme Court Building has elevated.
As of this afternoon, there is heavy police presence around the building and sidewalks, First Street has been closed to traffic, and a smaller fence has been put in place on the Capitol grounds east side. There is no impact on the west side of the Capitol, nor on the LOC side. Pedestrian traffic has not been impacted.
If things remain as is, we will continue forward with our Capitol Hill itinerary schedules. We WILL NOT take any groups to the Supreme Court side of Capitol Hill until the activity around the building and sidewalks dissipates.
Unless you hear otherwise from ACTS, continue forward with Capitol Hill activities as scheduled with the exception of SCOTUS. Avoid SCOTUS area until further notice.
Regarding our interactions with our groups, keep in mind that we have people on our groups with varying opinions and beliefs. Our goal is to speak factually about what is going on in our nation's capital city, speak from the perspective of a biblical worldview, but to be gracious and winsome. We cannot celebrate that this information breach took place. There are some very 'teachable moments' - let us pray that God gives each of us wisdom and the right words at the right moment to point our participants to Him and challenge them to think critically - not give them our opinions. Praying for all of you.
